This 40 hour a week position is primarily remote. Candidate will have to periodically come onsite (once a month) to meet with the business team.***

If the candidate resides in PA, then the PATCH will suffice. If not and the candidate resides out of state, then instead of the PATCH the respective state government issued background check rather than clearance from third party verifier is required.

This position's PO will run through 12/31/25 and likely extend if it's a good fit each time at a 6-month increment.

Business Intelligence Technician

Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field with 5+ years of Business Intelligence experience

Position summary 

PA Treasury is looking for a Business Intelligence Technician to build a comprehensive business intelligence solution for the Bureau of Savings Programs, which administers the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program, PA ABLE, and Keystone Scholars. The Business Intelligence Technician will be responsible for organizing, automating, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to help identify trends, inform marketing strategies, enable market segmentation, make business decisions, and evaluate program results, with the ultimate objective to help families save for their future. The Business Intelligence Technician will have an understanding of data structures, and experience in data management, analysis, and reporting. This position will report into the business unit (Bureau of Savings Programs) with close collaboration with Treasury’s IT department. Responsibilities 


Serve as liaison between the business unit and IT to define, design, implement and maintain a data storage, management, reporting and analysis solution. 

Work with business unit to identify business requirements and translate them into data project specifications. 

Synthesize data from various sources and transform into uniform formats for manipulation and analysis. 

Work with a variety of Microsoft reporting and analytics tools and techniques to explore data (Azure Dataverse, SQL Server, Power BI, Power Automate, etc.). 

Develop efficient algorithms and queries to clean and process data. 

Analyze and interpret data using statistical methods and analytical tools like Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python, etc.to identify patterns, trends, and insights. 

Create visualizations and reports to communicate data-driven insights to stakeholders. 

Work within Treasury IT framework, toolsets, and security policies to create repeatable, efficient, and scalable data automation and analytic solutions. 

Evaluate and recommend opportunities to automate computational processes to increase efficiency and accuracy of cleaning, validating, organizing, and processing data and, once approved by business unit, execute those processes. 

Establish processes to monitor and evaluate the sustainability of data analytic related capabilities. 

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis or related field.

Expert proficiency in Microsoft reporting tools (Azure Dataverse, SQL Server, Power BI, Power Automate, Etc.). 

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Excellent communication and presentation skills.
